Joint Law degree from Columbia Law School, Sciences Po, and the Sorbonne
Originally from Sicily, Aurora holds a double degree in European Social and Political Studies from Sciences Po Paris and University College London, as well as a joint law degree from Columbia Law School, Sciences Po, and the Sorbonne, specializing in transnational crime, war crimes, and international law. Her dissertation “Genocide Denial and Justification of Free Speech Restrictions” was awarded and published by the Global Undergraduate Awards.
She worked at the Post-Conflict Research Center in Sarajevo, assisting victims of the Srebrenica genocide in Bosnia-Herzegovina, before joining the criminal business law team of A&O Shearman, where she received the firm’s Excellence Scholarship for Equal Opportunities. The scholarship supported both her legal studies and the founding of Legal Change, an NGO advancing equity in the legal profession.
At Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute, Aurora contributed to the Clooney Foundation’s TrialWatch project and researched sexual violence against the Rohingya in Myanmar. She is currently preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination in the UK while training at WJ Avocats, a boutique firm focused on sanctions, INTERPOL matters, and cross-border criminal litigation.
Aurora represented Italy as a young female leader at the 2022 Fora Global Summit in Toronto, contributed recommendations to the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2023, and returned as a youth delegate to CSW69 in 2025. She aspires to become an international lawyer specializing in international criminal law and international human rights and seeks mentorship insights on building a career in this field and in the area of negotiations.
