Mentored by Audrey AZOULAY, Director general of UNESCO.
In 2017, Lamis founded the online project See My Raqqa to reintroduce the city of Raqqa to the world after the defeat of Isis, and to preserve its cultural heritage. See My Raqqa was featured on France 24, BRUT US, and other Arab media. Before Leaving Syria in 2013, Lamis co-founded the Syrian Female Journalists Network, the first network to raise gender equality awareness among Syrian journalists. She just completed a master’s degree in International Affairs at Sciences Po Paris.
Impact of LeadHers’ mentoring program
Audrey Azoulay really gave attention to understanding what her needs were. They looked at Lamis’ resume to understand her background. In the second meeting, they decided to talk about Lamis’ career ambitions. They divided the places she could work into two parts: the first is where she wanted to work and the second which was close to her projects. Audrey also offered to help her with introductions.
