20 May 2026, at Brach Hotel, Madrid

Miriam González Durántez has built a career at the intersection of law, policy, and international affairs. An international trade lawyer, she has advised on complex EU regulatory matters, contributed to major international trade negotiations, and held roles within the European Commission and the UK Foreign Office. She has also lectured on international trade policy at Stanford University and is a member of the European Commission’s pool of arbitrators for trade disputes.

Alongside her legal practice, she has held several board positions, including at Acciona and UBS. She is currently board member of Atrys Health and Toyota Europa. She is also a regular contributor to international and Spanish media, including The Guardian and the Financial Times.

In parallel, she founded Inspiring Girls International, an initiative active in more than 40 countries that connects young girls with female role models to broaden their perspectives and ambitions.

At the heart of our conversation was her latest initiative, España Mejor.

Founded with the ambition to renew civic engagement in Spain, España Mejor proposes a new, non-partisan way for citizens to contribute to public policy. By bringing together diverse voices and expertise, the initiative aims to address the country’s most pressing challenges, moving beyond political divides to foster thoughtful, collective solutions. It reflects Miriam’s conviction that citizens must play a more active role in shaping the future, and that constructive dialogue can lead to better governance.

During this intimate dinner, Miriam shared the vision behind España Mejor, the insights that led her to create it, and the role each of us can play in contributing to a more engaged and forward-looking society.
