Mona Jafarian

Co-Founder of the association Femme Azadi

26 November 2025, at Caspian, Paris

We were delighted to welcome Mona Jafarian—Franco-Iranian activist, columnist, and speaker—at our LeadHers dinner.

Born in Iran to a Kurdish mother and a Persian father, Mona arrived in France with her family at the age of eighteen months, shortly after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. Since then, she has been actively committed to amplifying the voices of Iranian women.

As co-founder of the association Femme Azadi, established in 2022 following the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, Mona Jafarian tirelessly supports the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement and advocates for women’s rights in Iran. Through political, media, event-based, and charitable initiatives—both in France and abroad—the association raises public awareness and provides tangible support to Iranian asylum seekers.

Extending her activist work, Mona Jafarian is the author of Je suis iranienne (2024) and Mon Combat (2025). These two books explore the condition of women in Iran, the forms of repression imposed by the regime, and contemporary geopolitical issues in the Middle East. She regularly appears in the media and at conferences to speak on topics related to human rights, the situation of Iranian women, the morality police, political Islamism, and regional dynamics.

During this evening, Mona Jafarian addressed the current challenges surrounding women’s rights in Iran, and presented the initiatives led by Femme Azadi and the forms of mobilization driven by the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.
